Welcome
The BCS Edinburgh Branch provides a forum
for BCS members located in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Over 1,800 of the
62,000 BCS members are affiliated to the Edinburgh Branch.
The main responsibilities of the Branch are to provide services for local
members and to promote the mission and objectives of the society to the IT
profession and the public at large.
The main activities of the branch are the hosting of a programme of talks
and social events, the arrangement of short professional development courses
and the provision of support for the continuing professional development of
members.
Both members and non-members are welcome to all meetings which are normally
free of charge. The branch makes a charge for courses but offers a discount to
BCS members.
The branch is run by a committee of volunteers who organise the branch's
various events. The branch's activities are funded by an allocation from BCS
headquarters.
